Fair Work Ombudsman

The Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman monitors, investigates, and enforces compliance with Commonwealth workplace laws.

The FWO are promoting a nation-wide targeted education and compliance program for the Horticulture Industry, the ‘Shared Compliance Program’.

The program promotes compliance with new Commonwealth workplace laws, which came into effect on 1 January 2010.
From February 2010, the FWO will provide a comprehensive and coordinated education strategy incorporating an industry wide mail out of information to employers, regional seminars and access to a self audit tool and other useful information.
From April to May 2010, Fair Work Inspectors will audit a random sample of employers in the horticulture industry to ensure they are meeting their obligations
