With the demand for year-round supply, increasing cool season production of lettuce and extremely wet conditions.
Many growers have experienced increasing difficulty in controlling lettuce anthracnose (Microdochium panattonianum).
There are a number of factors likely making disease control more difficult under these conditions.
Lettuce Anthracnose is a disease that is difficult to control and thrives in wet conditions, such as the recent weather experienced in south eastern Australia.
Lettuce growers and industry members are being called upon to take part in a workshop to discuss the management of Lettuce Anthracnose.
The workshop will be held the day before the Werribee Vegetable Expo, to allow growers and industry representatives attending the Expo, to participate in this workshop. Growers are strongly encouraged to attend.

Our key purpose is to identify:
1. What we know about the disease
2. What we don’t know about the disease that could improve control
3. What are our “best practice” recommendations
(A grower guide will be produced from this)
4. What are the most important steps to improve Anthracnose control
Representatives from the nursery, seed and agrichemical industries will be present.
There is no charge for attendance. It will greatly assist for catering purposes, if participants could register.
To register your attendance, please contact:
Tim Kimpton on 0424 000 562 or phytogen@internode.on.net.
